Advocacy, Distribution & Advertising
DFA acts as an advocate for dance on camera, securing means of distribution in schools, festivals, broadcasts, and the web. Recent alliances include Dancing in the Streets, United Federation of Teachers, National Dance Education Organization, Dance Critics Association, Dance Heritage Coalition, Classic Art Showcase, ReelNewYork, Ovation, World Dance Alliance, and MacFadden Publications.

Artist Development
DFA offers a private, annual half hour consultation with either the Artistic or Executive Director or public feedback through our Dance Film Lab. We can offer contacts from our extensive database.

Discounts & Prizes
Members receive discounts on selected new DVDs. Members may enter their film or video to DFA's annual Dance on Camera Festival for no fee and attend all events at a discount. DFA offers a Jury Cash Prize as part of the annual Dance on Camera Festival, as well as fees to the artists chosen for the touring programs around the world.

Fiscal Sponsorship
Members may apply to DFA to gain a non-profit umbrella for their film or video projects. To apply, send by e-mail your project description, budget, plans for distribution, project team. By mail, send to DFA a sample of previous film or video, or your work in progress. See the list of current projects

Library
Members may screen DFA’s library of videos, as well as read the many articles on dance for the camera. Tri-standard deck (PAL/NTSC) may be used upon appointment at DFA's office. Members can e-mail requests for contacts from our database of dance films and videos in circulation. Informal discussions on the art of dance on camera are on-going.

Post-Production Funding
Members may apply for DFA’s annual post-production grants. Proposals should include DVD or VHS of work-in-progress, budget, distribution plans, biographies of key members of the creative team, and brief description. There is no application form to fill, simply mail the above requested information to DFA, 48 West 21st Street, #907, NY, NY 10010. If you are not currently a member, you may send in your membership fee along with your application. Deadline: June 1, 2010

Recent DFA grants were given to: Gabri Christa for SAVONETA, Maysles Institute for a documentary on Sally Gross; Maria Ramas for her documentary on the ballerina Mia Slavenska; Victoria Murphey for a cinedance; Nancy Stevens for a documentary on blind dancers; Sylvina Szperling for her cinedance involving her mother and daughter; Karina Epperlein for her documentary on the late Homer Avila, PHOENIX DANCE; David Licata for TANGO OCTOGENARIO, Dan Geller and Dayna Goldfine for BALLETS RUSSES, and Ken Glazebrook's AFRICAN DANCE: SAND, DRUM AND SHOSTAKOVICH.

Publications
Members receive Dance on Camera Journal, a bi-annual publication. The subjects range from reviews and essays, news on opportunities, and issues facing artists. Opportunities are also e-mailed to members.See recent Journal

Workshops
Marketing, Music Clearance, Choreography for Camera, and Editing. Recent clients include: Berkeley Carroll School in Brooklyn, New York; Kannon Dance Company and School in St. Petersburg, Russia; American Ballet Theater, and Frederick Douglass Academy in Harlem, NYC.

Photography Exhibits
Dance photography exhibits have been mounted in conjunction with the Festival at the Frieda and Roy Furman Gallery in the Walter Reade Theatre at Lincoln Center, The Puffin Room in Soho, and Mark Morris Dance Center.
